Twelve Days of Travel: Cruising the Mediterranean on Celebrity’s Edge

I’ve had the privilege of visiting Europe numerous times in my life— by train, plane, car, and cruise. I have to say, cruising Europe is one of my absolute favorite ways to tour the continent. One of the advantages of cruising in Europe is the ability to visit many different cities and port stops in a short amount of time— which is especially helpful if someone has limited vacation days or wants to maximize their time abroad and minimize the amount of time spent traveling between cities.

Multiple cruise lines sail to Europe, but one of my favorites is through Celebrity Cruises. Celebrity is a sister company to Royal Caribbean. Where Royal Caribbean is a cruise line that offers something for all generations but caters to families, Celebrity offers something for all generations but caters towards adults. Celebrity Cruises is a fantastic cruise option if you’re looking for an elevated sailing experience with more of a focus on service and high-end dining experiences, upgraded amenities and elegant public areas, as well as more upgraded staterooms in general when compared to Royal Caribbean. The entry price point to Celebrity Cruise Line is slightly higher than Royal Caribbean, though with various promotions for each brand, one can easily find comparable options.

Today’s post focuses on one of Celebrity’s newest ships— the Celebrity Edge— which sails worldwide but with focused itineraries in both the Caribbean and Europe. European cruises typically take place between May - October, and you can book a sailing on Celebrity Edge as far out as May 2025 for certain itineraries.

7 Night Spain, France, and Italy Cruise in the Mediterranean - Celebrity Edge

For this sailing, you’ll fly into Rome, Italy (I recommend absolutely arriving 3-4 days early so you can fight off jet lag while also building in some time to explore this incredible, historical city), and then from Rome you’ll visit Corsica and its stunning blue waters, Portofino, Italy, Florence, Cannes, Mallorca, and then end in Barcelona, Spain. As I mentioned above, sailing within Europe is such a great way to explore the continent as many of your days cruising will be port stops— allowing you to get the most in with regards to sight-seeing, excursions, etc. compared to if you were to try and do the same route on your own in a 7 day period of time. End your cruise with a few extra days in Barcelona as well, making time to visit the La Sagrada Familia and stroll many of the beautiful parks located within this vibrant city.

From their website for this itinerary, Celebrity notes, “Start your Mediterranean vacation visiting the Sistine Chapel and Colosseum in Rome. Take a swim in the cool, crisp waters of Corsica and stroll across the colorful villages of Portofino. Take a photo in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and go shopping in the luxury boutiques in Cannes. Relax on a golden sand beach at Palma de Mallorca and end your vacation in Barcelona, where fascinating architecture and five-star cuisine await.”

If you’re looking for additional itineraries to Europe or perhaps an even longer cruise, the options abound— how about a 12 night Italy, Turkey, and Greek Islands cruise on the newest Celebrity ship— The Beyond. (This was our most recent Celebrity Cruise itinerary and we absolutely loved every single thing about it!). Or, explore the British Isles on an 11-night sailing on board the Celebrity Apex.

Right now, Celebrity Cruise lines are offering a fantastic promotion, where the second guest sails for up to 75% off, plus you can save up to $800 per stateroom and receive up to $800 onboard credit per stateroom, based on fare class and itinerary chosen.
